Attended the Society for Anti-aging and Aesthetic Malaysia conference (17-19 May 2008) in Kuala Lumpur today. The topics covered were: Healthy aging, bioidentical hormones replacement therapy, stem cell therapy, anti-aging topics, anti-cancer treatment, complementary medicine and aesthetic medicine. There was also a concurrent exhibition which displayed various machines incorporated new technologies in the field of lasers, light-based therapy, face body rejuvenation, botox, slimming, weight reduction, wrinkle reduction, pigmentation, face-lifting and liposuction. Bought some books on cosmetic surgery for the asian face, facial rejuvenation, management of complication in aesthetic surgery and the use of botox in aesthetic medicine. I was very impressed by the new techniques and advances made in the use botulinum toxin in face lifting, treatment of hemifacial spasm, Meigne syndrome, migraine and headache. There was advances in the field of double eye lid surgery, in the use of the single suture technique for creating the double eye lid in asian without the use of cutting/surgery ( single suture blepharoplasty), raising the nose bridge to increase the nose profile resulting in a sharper and more defined nose and the use of implants to increase the size of the breasts in women (nose and breast augmentation). Topics in fat transfer, liposuction, liposelection for body and face shaping, slimming, stretch mark cellulite reduction and pigment reduction. Thread lifts and filler implant were dealt in detail.
